Training and certification readiness
ISO 59000, put to work
ISO 59000 is the first international family of circular economy standards. We translate it into the decisions your organisation actually faces, prepare you for the standards that are becoming certifiable, and train your people to lead the work in-house.
Talk to usWhat ISO 59000 is
ISO 59000 is the international standards family for the circular economy, the first of its kind. The foundation standards were published in 2024, with further standards published and in development. They are voluntary, and they align with the EU legislation that is already moving towards you.
Foundation, published 2024
ISO 59004
Vocabulary, principles and guidance for implementation
The common language and the principles the rest of the family builds on.
ISO 59010
Guidance on the transition of business models and value networks
How an organisation actually moves from a linear to a circular model.
ISO 59020
Measuring and assessing circularity performance
A consistent, verifiable way to measure circularity.
Certification oriented
ISO 59040
Product Circularity Data Sheet (PCDS)
A method for evaluating and communicating product circularity using verifiable data, written for certification.
ISO 59014
Sustainability and traceability of secondary materials recovery
Principles and requirements for secondary materials, written for certification.
In development
Management systems requirements
Designed to be auditable.
Organising a value network towards circularity
Coordination across partners as a discipline.
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)
Under joint ISO and CEN work.
Of the published family, the product and materials standards carry requirements written for certification, while the foundation standards are guidance. Auditability across the family is expanding as the standards in development are finalised.
Where ISO 59000 sits in the readiness journey
The standards are not a checklist to work through in isolation. They map onto the readiness journey our work is built around. A standard is most useful when you reach it at the right level of readiness, and the same standard can inform more than one level.
- CRL1
Shared understanding
ISO 59004. Common language and principles across the organisation.
- CRL2
Compliance readiness
ISO 59020. The measurement basis that reporting and regulation depend on.
- CRL3
Behavioural mobilisation
ISO 59010. Moving from understanding into a redesigned business model and value network.
- CRL4
Operational embedding
ISO 59040, ISO 59014 and the forthcoming management systems requirements. Product-level data, secondary materials traceability, and an auditable system.
- CRL5
Ecosystem alignment
The forthcoming value network and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) standards. Coordinating circularity beyond your own boundary.
ISO 59000 is a global reference, broader than EU-only legislation. For European clients we tie the standards to the directives that already apply, including Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), the Digital Product Passport, Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the Circular Economy Act, and we align the work with the WBCSD Circular Transition Indicators and the Global Circularity Protocol.
What we offer
ISO 59000 training
Two formats, from a single-day orientation to an applied practitioner programme.
- One-day introduction. An orientation across the family: what each standard does, who in your organisation needs which, and how it connects to your existing reporting.
- Two-day practitioner programme. An applied deep dive, worked through against your sector and your business, and tied to the EU legislation that applies to you.
- Delivered in Ireland and the Benelux, with reach across the EU through our trainer network.
ISO 59000 certification readiness
Implementation support towards the standards that carry certifiable requirements.
- A structured engagement over roughly ten to twelve months.
- Leadership and board alignment on the business model changes the standards imply.
- The internal sessions and evidence needed to be ready, ending in a presentation of outcomes.
- A position ahead of audit requirements as certification bodies begin to engage with the family.
Train the trainer
An accreditation pathway for consultants and partners who want to deliver ISO 59000 training in their own market.
- Built on the European trainer-network model.
- The full training material and a guided first delivery.
- The route for partners who want to carry the programme rather than buy it.
Why now
Auditability is arriving.
Today a subset of the family carries certifiable requirements, and the standards in development are being designed to be audited. Certification bodies are only beginning to engage, so early movers set the pace.
The standard is global.
ISO 59000 reaches beyond EU-only legislation. We bridge the two for European clients by tying the standards to the directives that already apply.
The family is moving.
The standards are being revised and extended. Guided interpretation keeps you current as it develops.
